A New superpower

Humanity is in the midst of an astonishing revolution in global communication. The foundation for this revolution is the internet: In 2016, internet access reached just over 50% of the Earth’s population. By 2020, it is projected that over 60% of citizens of the planet will have internet access. The tools already exist for a majority of the people of the Earth to begin to discover and express our voices and visions for the future!

A new superpower is emerging on the Earth. This superpower is the combined voices and visions of the world’s citizens when mobilized through the internet and social media. When the people of the Earth are not simply on the receiving end of media (as a collective witness to climate disruption, resource depletion, mass migrations, social injustice, and more), but are also able to express our collective voices for a promising future, then a new and powerful force for creative action will be brought into the world. As the people of the Earth learn how to use new tools of local to global communication, a new era in shared understanding, reconciliation and sustainable development is being born.
